Harbor House

Middle School is NOT just a building and Harbor House is NOT just a team.

Here on Harbor, we recognize that early adolescence is a special time in every person's life. It is a time of immense change both physically and mentally. During this time, students must be able to stretch their limits and try new things while still maintaining a strong academic drive as well as personal comfort and safety. Because of this, we have developed a child-centered curriculum that is based around high academic achievement, strong emotional support, and creating strong social skills.

The Association for Middle Level Learning says that evidence shows interdisciplinary teaming has a highly positive impact on the learning of middle school students. Studies have shown that teams positively affect students' achievement and self-esteem.

Harbor is an interdisciplinary team made up of 90 students in the 7th and 8th grades as well as four core teachers and several Para educators. The team environment
allows middle schoolers to establish a sense of trust and friendship while still maintaining the ability to grow and become independent.
